As I continue on my personal growth journey, I\u2019ve been thinking more and more about my past and what\u2019s gotten me to where I\u2019m at today ![\"\ud83e\udd14\"](\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/t34\/1\/16\/1f914.png\")
<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

For the longest time, I was (and sometimes still am) a perfectionist.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Always having to ensure things are \u2018just right\u2019 or I don\u2019t put it out there.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\n
I think this one stems back from when I was a kid. I have 2 brothers and I\u2019m the youngest by 6 years.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\n
I remember my dad would call me the \u201cGolden Child\u201d or \u201cGoldie\u201d and that \u201cI could do no wrong\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Subconsciously I must have felt that I had to live up to those names.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
I used to collect He-Man figures. I practically had (and still have them today) the entire collection ![\"\u2694\ufe0f\"](\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/t8\/1\/16\/2694.png\")
<\/span><\/span><\/div>\nI had a table in my room and I would display all the figures and castles and vehicles.
At least once a week, I would change up the display and remember being extra meticulous with where I put things for the various fight scenes.
Making sure everyone\u2019s armour and weapons were secured just right. And if someone hit the table and a figure fell down, I would notice it right away and fix it.<\/span><\/div>\n
I believe being a perfectionist is good in some ways as it helped me to try harder & push more<\/b>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\u2026 I always studied extra and got really good grades in school<\/span><\/div>\n\n
\u2026 My dad was my soccer coach (and scout leader) and he always encouraged me to do my best<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Reflecting on my last bunch of years, I can tell it\u2019s also held me back in some ways. I\u2019ve been nervous about putting myself out there.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

When creating content, or recording videos, I wouldn\u2019t release it because it wasn\u2019t 100%.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\n
As an adult, I\u2019ve grown up in many ways, but I\u2019m still working on that \u201cGolden Child\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\n
I catch myself in those perfectionist moments and I\u2019m more ok with things not being perfect.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
We have to remember…
<\/span>“We Are All Works In Progress”<\/p>\n<\/div>\nOur past has helped to shape our present. And what we do now, in the present, will impact our decisions, behaviour, actions & ultimately our future.<\/span>
