Since registering for a Spartan Beast race a couple weeks back, I’ve started to get more consistent with my morning runs.
This morning’s run was a little different.
I was all set to do my sprint intervals this morning. I was on sprint interval #2 when I heard a voice from around the corner.
It was Phil. He an older dude that lives a street over from me.
He was also out for his morning run. He usually gets out with a couple other older guys (all in their 70’s which all inspire the heck out of me) from the neighbourhood, but it was just him this morning.
He was in the middle of his run too, so we ran together.
I always just saw Phil in passing and we just waved and said hello.
Even though I had a plan to do my sprint intervals, I’m glad I switched things up and ran with Phil.
It was great to get to know him better. We also stopped by his house on the way home and he was so proud to show me his garden. Bonus… he had some extra raspberry plants for me to plant in my garden.
This run with Phil reminded me of some new lessons I want to apply more…
   1. I don’t always have to be so rigid with my planning or schedule
   2. Stop & talk with more people
   3. Be curious
   4. Make friends with neighbours that have great gardens 😉
We have so much we can learn from others, as long as we stop to listen which gives us the extra opportunity to learn.
Have an awesome week.
